The Job:
FCI is in search of a Technical Writer to join our team. This position will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and updating technical documentation for our product maintenance and release. Day to day responsibilities include creating user manuals, technical guides, and web-based help systems. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be working within our Sustaining Engineering team to ensure all documentation of product release is accurate, comprehensive, and user-friendly. This is also an on-site opportunity at our San Marcos, CA office location.

What You’ll Do:
- Maintain legacy and new product information through detailed user manuals, technical guides, and other forms of documentation.
- Collaborate with developers to gather information for creation of training materials, such as data sheets, user manuals, applications, notes, errata, product briefs, programmer guides, and other forms of technical documentation.
- Create clear, concise, and comprehensive concepts to explain the products to users and clients.
- Utilize various tools and software to create and manage documentation, including word processors, content management systems, and graphic design tools.
- Develop and maintain document layouts to ensure consistency across all documentation.
- Provide recommendations for effective formatting and ways to produce the highest quality of work and standards per company specifications.

What You’ll Need:
- BA or BS Degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Computer Science or a related field.
- 3 or more years of experience with technical writing, engineering or testing and evaluation.
- Basic knowledge of process control technology, engineering schematics, and design specifications.
- Progressive work experience in PDF generation such as Microsoft Word, Adobe InDesign, DTP Graphic Illustrations, and various document templates.
- Experience with test equipment, including general device testing and interoperability testing is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
Physical/Travel Requirements:
No travel required. This position may require extended periods of sitting, in addition to extensive computer usage.
